About the Teacher

Jennifer Jennings began piano lessons at age six and by the time she was in fifth grade she was already accompanying. Throughout her middle school and high school years, Jennifer accompanied numerous choirs, show choirs, and musicals. She holds a Bachelor of Music Degree from Oklahoma City University.  Upon graduation, Jennifer served as a staff accompanist at Edmond Memorial High School. After three years she returned to Oklahoma City University and served as a staff accompanist for Dance Majors enrolled in voice lessons. In addition to this position, Jennifer became a piano teacher with OCU’s Performing Arts Academy. Currently, she maintains a private piano studio in northwest Oklahoma City/Edmond area.

In addition to teaching, Jennifer is a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music in Piano (NCTM), an active member in COMTA (Central Oklahoma Music Teachers Association) and OMTA (Oklahoma Music Teachers Association) and is a member of MTNA (Music Teachers National Association). Currently, she holds a position on the OMTA Board, leads all the OMTA District Chairs as the OMTA District Coordinator, and has added the position of OMTA State Achievement Audition Chair to her list of volunteer positions. Jennifer was honored to receive the OMTA CFO Fellow Award in 2015, the OMTA Honorary Lifetime Membership Award in 2019, and the MTNA Foundation Fellow in 2020.

Jennifer’s love of music is shown to each of her students as she prepares them in the following areas: solo performers, accompanists for small and large ensembles, arranging and improvisation, and college preparation. Jennifer’s idea of learning is that there should be lots of laughter and stories along with learning the foundations of musical theory and technique for piano playing.
